NEBOSH Diploma 1, 2 and the New Level 4 Diploma (Jul 04)

Statement on existing Diploma 1 and 2

We will continue to make these programmes available as long as students are in our system (subject to NEBOSH cut off dates).

Last registration for Diploma 1 is February 2005 so our last intake is January 2005. The Diploma 2 examination will be available until December 2008 to cater for those entering the system in 2005.

Diploma 1, 2 and the New Level 4 Diploma

What's the difference?

The new NEBOSH Level 4 Diploma has been designed to meet the domain knowledge of the NVQ Level 4 in Health and Safety. IOSH has stated its intention to set Level 4 as the entry requirement for corporate membership and will accept the new Diploma as evidence of this together with appropriate occupational experience.

The original Diploma Part 1 sits somewhere below the Level 4 Diploma and will (in future) have no access entitlement to IOSH.

The original Diploma Part 2 sits above the Level 4 Diploma and is recognised by IOSH as an appropriate qualification for access as a full member. In an educational context the status of Dip2.OSH is illustrated by many universities acceptance of it as a direct entry qualification to a higher degree study programme such as an MSc in Occupational Safety and Health.
