Diploma Pass Rates (Jun 06)

There is a lot of talk, often misguided, about NEBOSH Diploma pass rates. The frequently aired view is that they are low and that the NEBOSH Diploma is difficult to pass. However for the Two Part Diploma, a survey of candidates who enrolled before September 2002 and whose enrolment period has therefore expired, either through achievement of a diploma or expiry, shows that for all eligible candidates (those who have submitted all assignments and have taken the examination) the pass rate is 73% for Part 1 candidates and 61% for Part Two candidates.

For the National Diploma, pass rates for the January examinations were:

Unit A 56%
Unit B 64%
Unit C 63%

Assignment pass rates are also high. For the November issue they were:

Unit A 55%
Unit B 60%
Unit C 76%

On resubmission pass rates are even higher. The pass rates for the August issue of assignments were:

Unit A 74%
Unit B 84.7%
Unit C 100%

The December examination for the Specialist Diploma in Environmental Management had a pass rate of 60%.
