Managing Asbestos One day public or In-company programme
A one day course designed to provide information and guidance on the risks of working with or around asbestos. The course will give guidance on recognising asbestos within buildings and facilities and what to do when asbestos is present. Delegates will gain knowledge of the legal mechanisms in place to control asbestos and be given guidance on the duty to manage asbestos in the Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 2006.
At the end of the programme delegates should be able to:
- Discuss the hazards of working with asbestos and asbestos containing materials, including the ill health effects
- Explain where asbestos is likely to be present in buildings and how exposure to asbestos can be avoided
- Recognise the steps to be taken when asbestos or suspected asbestos containing materials are discovered
- Provide information on asbestos legislation
- Introduce the duty to manage the risk from asbestos in commercial premises
- Work through the logical steps needed to comply with the regulations
